High School Referees & Game Officiating

High school rugby matches are offiiciated by a head referee and two touch judges. Officials for the Smoky Mountain Conference are trained and coached in accordance with the guidelines of USA Rugby. SMAC compensates referees based on a conference approved fee schedule.Touch judges are assigned to matches as a fundraising opportunity for local senior and collegiate rugby club after the proper training. All touch judges must first go through a training session provided by the MidSouth Referee Society. Please contact Dave Haines for details and to arrange a time for your group to undergo the training session.
