Maryville Black Claims SMAC Conference Championship
May 02, 2010 (Knoxville, TN) - Maryville put battled South Doyle for a well earned SMAC Conference Championship on Sunday at the Tennessee Rugby Park. Maryville posted two second half tries to claim the narrow 10-0 victory over a gutsy and determined team from South Doyle. Captain Jon Burchfield and Aaron Dotson were the try scorers for Maryville in a game that featured few missed opportunities and smothering defenses from both teams.

Maryville upended Karns 34-12 to reach the finals while South Doyle defeated Farragut 15-10 in a very hard found semifinal match.

Maryville advances to the state tournament as the representative in the Cup state championship tournament while South Doyle advances to the Bowl state championship.
