TENNESSEE HIGH SCHOOL RUGBY
2009 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Date: May 9 & 10, 2009
Location: MTSU Rugby Facility, Murfreesboro, TN
Host: MTSU Rugby
Welcome to all teams who have made it to THSR 2009 SATE CHAMPIONSHIP. Below are the pre-set brackets with game times. With (8) eight games on Saturday it will be important that each game begins on time and once the games are complete that teams clear the field and sidelines to make room for the next game.
Each Team should have received a roster form that must be completed for each game. The roster has a place for 25 names however only 7 substitutes are allowed following IRB guidelines. There will be no open substitution. We are planning to have a Public Announcer and we will be selecting MVP’s for each division so we need (2) two copies of the rosters that are accurate with the jersey number. We do plan to have 3-part NCR forms on site. Every player must be CIPP registered with USA Rugby, completed a THSR player form available online http://www.midtennrugby.com/forms/smart-playerparticipation.pdf which is a link through the Middle Tennessee Conference website. This is the same form that has been in use since 2001. There is also a medical form and the code of conduct which each player should have completed, but the main forms that are needed are the THSR player and parent consent form and CIPP.
This years event is officially sponsored by the National Guard who is supplying the cup trophies for both the girls and boys as well as the MVP trophies for each of these divisions. The trophies are awesome and the National Guards support should make this a special event.
Dave Haines and Jerry McLemore will be the tournament referee organizer and all issues regarding officiating will be through the Mid South Referees Society and the referees involved in specific matches. Referee decisions are final and no appeal process can overturn these decisions.
I want to stress the need for all teams to be on your best behavior and show respect for the event and the game overall. This includes players, coaches, parents and supporters. Let’s promote a positive environment, so please make sure everyone displays good sportsmanship. This year each team is requested to have no more than 2 coaches who will be given special access identification to be permitted within barrier ropes. These coaches are expected to be appropriately dressed with no ragged shorts, a golf style shirt and shoes. By working together we can make this a great event. All times are Central time zone. Teams listed first or on top are the higher seed. If there is a jersey conflict then the lower seeded team will be expected to change.
Next years seeding will be based on this year’s results. Best of luck to all the teams.
