Maryville Black Claims SMAC Conference Championship
May 03, 2009 (Knoxville, TN) - Maryville turned back Karns to claim the 2009 SMAC conference championship with a 29-0 victory. The Rebels scored three tries in the span of less than 10 minutes of the second half to turn what was a very tight contest decidedly in their favor. From there, solid ball control and a stubborn defense held Karns in check.

Maryville now advances to the Tennessee High School Rugby state tournament as the SMAC representative in the State Cup Division while Karns advances as the SMAC representative in the State Bowl Division.
